Technical Expert - Flight Control Laws Location: Montreal, Quebec, Canada Work Model: Onsite Employment Type: Full-time We are hiring a Technical Expert in Flight Control Laws with deep experience in the design, development, analysis, verification, and validation of control laws for Fly-By-Wire aircraft. This role will support CLaws, autopilot, navigation design, R&D projects, certification activities, simulator testing, and flight test data analysis. Must-Have Skills Flight Control Laws (FBW) Development MATLAB & Simulink Aircraft Flight Dynamics & Control Systems (SISO/MIMO) DO-178B / ARP4754A (V&V & Certification) C++ Programming Responsibilities: - Develop and improve new and existing Flight Control Laws designs and related assessment tools using Matlab and C++ - Support CLaws, autopilot, and navigation design development for R&D projects - Develop Flight Control Laws and system requirements - Perform Flight Control Laws requirements validation and verification for updates and new designs - Verify and deliver CLaws in accordance with DO-178B and SAE ARP 4754 standards - Design and develop pilot-in-the-loop CLaws based on handling quality requirements, flight and structural envelope protection requirements, performance requirements, test pilot assessments, and aircraft-level requirements - Evaluate CLaws and Fly-By-Wire system failures, system stability, and performance using analytical methods, desktop simulations, pilot-in-the-loop simulator tests, and flight test data - Support integration of CLaws into test rigs and supplier hardware, including PFCC and related systems Required Qualifications: - Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering or a related engineering discipline - 10+ years of relevant experience developing Flight Control Laws for Fly-By-Wire aircraft - Strong knowledge of aircraft flight dynamics and aerodynamics - Experience with classical and modern control systems design techniques for SISO and MIMO systems - Familiarity with advanced control laws techniques and methods - Strong understanding of control law evaluation techniques, including linear and non-linear methods and testing procedures - Understanding of aircraft stability, handling qualities, and pilot-in-the-loop control - Experience with DO-178B, system requirements verification and validation, and certification of complex software - Proficiency with Matlab and Simulink for simulation, aircraft/system modeling, and control law development - Programming experience with Matlab scripts and C++ - Fluent written and spoken communication skills in French and English - Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a team environment Preferred Qualifications: - PhD in Aerospace Engineering - Experience with SAE ARP 4754 - Experience with state estimation or Kalman filtering - Experience supporting autopilot or navigation design - Experience integrating CLaws into test rigs or supplier hardware - Experience analyzing flight test data
