Avionics & Communication – IPT Head Location: Montreal-Est, Quebec, Canada Experience: 12–18+ Years Education: Bachelor’s/Master’s in Aerospace, Avionics, Electrical Engineering, or Electronics & Communication Job Description We are looking for an experienced Avionics & Communication IPT Head to lead the development, integration, validation, and certification of avionics and aircraft communication systems. The candidate will lead cross-functional teams and act as the technical focal point between engineering teams, customers, suppliers, and program leadership. Key Responsibilities Lead the Avionics & Communication Integrated Product Team (IPT) and ensure alignment with overall aircraft program objectives. Own scope, schedule, cost, quality, risks, and technical deliverables for avionics systems. Define and manage avionics system architecture, requirements, interfaces, and system-level trade studies. Lead development of VHF/UHF, SATCOM, data links, GNSS, INS, radio navigation, flight control, and monitoring interfaces. Develop/review System Requirements Documents (SRD), Interface Control Documents (ICD), and architecture documentation. Lead LRU/system-level integration, verification & validation, HIL/SIL simulations, ground testing, and flight-test support. Ensure compliance with ARP4754A, ARP4761, DO-178C, DO-254, and applicable certification requirements. Drive FAA/EASA/DGCA certification activities, including compliance matrices, test plans/reports, PSAC, PHAC, and PDR/CDR reviews. Coordinate with systems, hardware, software, V&V, certification, EWIS, electrical power, structures, and propulsion teams. Act as the primary technical interface with customers, suppliers, certification teams, and internal stakeholders. Identify and mitigate technical risks and manage configuration/change control across IPTs. Support RFQ/proposals, technical solutioning, estimation, and program planning. Lead and mentor distributed onsite/offshore engineering teams. Required Technical Skills Strong experience in Avionics System Development and Aircraft NPD programs. Avionics architecture and aircraft electronics integration. ARINC 429 / ARINC 664 / CAN communication protocols. Flight deck systems and avionics integration. DO-178C, DO-254, ARP4754A, ARP4761. System requirements, architecture, SRD, ICD, and interface management. System integration, HIL/SIL, V&V, ground and flight testing. Understanding of EWIS and electrical power interfaces. Familiarity with MBSE tools such as Cameo or Rhapsody. Configuration management and technical risk management. Leadership Requirements Proven experience leading IPTs or large cross-functional engineering teams – Mandatory. Strong program ownership and decision-making skills. Excellent customer and stakeholder communication. Experience managing onsite/offshore distributed teams. Strong problem-solving and risk-management abilities. Preferred Skills eVTOL / UAV / Advanced Air Mobility experience. Avionics cybersecurity / DO-326A. Digital thread / PLM environments such as 3DEXPERIENCE (3DX) or Teamcenter. Key Deliverables Avionics system architecture and design baseline. Integrated and validated avionics systems. Certification-ready documentation and compliance artifacts. On-time IPT deliverables aligned with program milestones. Reporting Structure Reports To: Program Manager / Chief Engineer Leads: Avionics IPT – Systems, Design, V&V & Certification Engineers
