Job Title: Senior Avionics Technician (AME-E) Company: MiSix Aviation Services Inc. / Midland Instruments Ltd. Location: London International Airport (YXU) – London, Ontario Job Type: Full-Time About Us Located at London International Airport, we specialize in high-end aircraft maintenance, avionics integration, and data modifications. We pride ourselves on delivering precision engineering and top-tier service to the aviation community. We are looking for a highly skilled, licensed Senior Avionics Technician who thrives in a hands-on environment and wants to take ownership of complex, start-to-finish projects rather than standard line maintenance. The Role As a Senior Avionics Technician, you will be the technical driving force behind our custom panel upgrades and avionics installations. You will be responsible for designing, fabricating, and integrating advanced flight systems into both certified and experimental aircraft. This role demands a deep understanding of modern avionics architecture, meticulous wiring skills, and the ability to troubleshoot down to the component level across a variety of equipment ecosystems. Key Responsibilities Custom Panel Design & Integration: Lead the design, layout, and physical installation of custom instrument panels, integrating systems across major platforms including Garmin, Universal Avionics, and Rockwell Collins. Complex Installations: Perform complete system upgrades, including glass cockpit retrofits, autopilot integrations, and advanced flight hardware installations. Harness Fabrication: Build custom wiring harnesses from scratch, ensuring impeccable routing, termination, and shielding. Troubleshooting & Repair: Perform advanced component-level troubleshooting, diagnosing and resolving intricate electrical and avionics system faults in both legacy and modern suites. Schematics & Documentation: Read, interpret, and create detailed wiring schematics and technical blueprints. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all maintenance, modifications, and repairs strictly adhere to Transport Canada regulations, manufacturer specifications, and AMO compliance standards. Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough post-installation testing, system calibrations, pitot-static/transponder recertifications, etc. Qualifications: Licensing: Valid Transport Canada Aircraft Maintenance Engineer License, Category E (AME-E). Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of hands-on experience in avionics installation, panel building, and troubleshooting. Technical Expertise: Proven track record installing, interfacing, and troubleshooting equipment from Garmin, Universal Avionics, and Rockwell Collins. Mastery of aerospace wiring practices, connector pinning (e.g., micro 3-pin connectors, circular, D etc), and crimping and soldering techniques. Strong background in reading and drafting electrical diagrams. Soft Skills: Exceptional attention to detail, strong problem-solving capabilities, and the ability to work independently on complex projects with minimal supervision. Bonus / Strong Asset: Hold a Private Pilot License (PPL). We do a lot of flying, and technicians who are also pilots are highly welcomed! 2 and 3D CAD experience. Sheet metal experience. Why Join Us? Aviation Culture: We don't just fix planes; we fly them. You'll be joining a team that actively flies and shares your passion for aviation. Quality of Work: Escape the repetitive grind of standard line maintenance. Work on exciting, custom start-to-finish projects where your craftsmanship is front and center. Professional Growth: Operate in an environment that values deep technical expertise, precision, and continuous learning in aviation technology. Competitive Compensation: Pay is commensurate with experience, reflecting the high-level technical skills required for this role.
