Job details
LGM Group, a specialist in the management and engineering of major projects, has, 30 years after its creation, more than 1,500 employees across 5 continents. With offices in Montreal and Toronto, LGM North America, a subsidiary of LGM Group, positions itself as a true support partner to designers and operators of major industrial systems (rail, aeronautics, naval, energy), providing expertise in Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Safety (RAMS), Systems Engineering, Integrated Logistics Support, Technical Writing, and Project Management. Passionate about technical and human challenges, we are involved in numerous major projects, particularly in public transit, that will have a significant impact on sustainable mobility in Canada. To support our strong growth, we are looking for an Aerospace System Safety Engineer, autonomous and capable of supporting the design, assessment, and validation of complex safety-critical systems. RAMS Leadership & Governance Lead safety activities: define the analysis approach, scope of assessments, required inputs, deliverables, and review criteria; estimate effort and monitor technical commitments. Engineering & Technical Analyses Perform and review safety assessments, including FHA, PSSA, SSA, FMEA/FMES, Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), and Common Cause Analysis (CCA). Contribute to defining safety requirements, allocating them to systems and equipment, and verifying their implementation in the design. Assess proposed architectures, identify failure scenarios, and recommend risk mitigation measures. Prepare safety reports and supporting substantiation documentation, and support reviews with customers, suppliers, and certification teams. Interface & communication Provide technical guidance to engineers: guide analyses, verify assumptions, review deliverables, and support skills development. Contribute to the development of the team’s methods, tools, and document templates. Education & Experience Bachelor’s or master’s degree in aerospace, electrical, electronics, or mechanical engineering. Minimum 3 years in aerospace system safety, with hands-on experience performing and reviewing safety assessments on complex systems. Technical Skills Strong command of ARP4754 and ARP4761, using the revisions applicable to each program. Understanding of their interfaces with DO-178C and DO-254. Ability to assess architectures, identify failure scenarios and recommend mitigations. Knowledge of certification requirements, particularly CS-25 / 14 CFR Part 25, Sections 25.783, 25.807, and 25.809, would be an asset. Transferable Skills Well-founded technical decisions and clear explanation of the limitations of an analysis. Coordination of multiple contributors. Clear writing for safety reports and substantiation documents. Ability to coach engineers and review their work.
