To support our work, we are hiring a Ramp and Cargo Supervisor in Goose Bay, NL.
The Ramp and Cargo Supervisor plays a critical role in overseeing the efficient and safe handling of aircraft ramp operations and cargo management at our Canadian facilities. This position ensures that all cargo is loaded, unloaded, and secured in compliance with regulatory standards and company policies, minimizing delays and maintaining operational integrity. The supervisor leads a team of ramp agents and cargo handlers, coordinating daily activities to optimize workflow and maintain high safety standards. They act as the primary point of contact for communication between ground operations, flight crews, and logistics teams to ensure seamless coordination. Ultimately, the Ramp and Cargo Supervisor is responsible for maintaining a productive, safe, and compliant ramp environment that supports on-time departures and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate daily ramp and cargo operations, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company procedures.
- Manage and lead a team of ramp agents and cargo handlers, including scheduling, training, and performance evaluations.
- Oversee the loading, unloading, and securing of cargo and baggage to ensure proper weight distribution and adherence to aircraft specifications.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of ramp equipment and work areas to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
- Collaborate with flight crews, ground operations, and logistics personnel to facilitate efficient aircraft turnaround and cargo handling.
- Maintain accurate records of cargo movements, equipment usage, and incident reports.
- Respond promptly to operational issues or emergencies, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in ramp or cargo operations within the aviation industry.
- Proven supervisory experience in a fast-paced, safety-critical environment.
- Knowledge of Canadian aviation safety regulations and cargo handling standards.
- Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearances and certifications.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in logistics, aviation management, or a related field.
- Experience with cargo management systems and ramp operations software.
- Certification in workplace safety or occupational health and safety training.
- Familiarity with hazardous materials handling and dangerous goods regulations.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and French.
