Why are we hiring? We are growing and growing fast! We are adding to our ranks in order to create a great work life balance for all. This role is a permanent full-time position in our Calgary office.

What does a typical day look like for our Senior Technologist? Your day starts in our Calgary office where you are collaborating with our Project Engineers and Project Managers in the design of airfield infrastructure projects for private airports, regional and international airports. Specifically, most of your time is spent designing power distribution, runway/taxiway ground lighting, runway approach lighting, airfield guidance signs, field electrical centers and associated project components through the development of design drawings, design documentation and technical reports.

Additional duties would include: Assist in the planning, design and construction of airfield infrastructure projects through the application of theory and principles of civil engineering under the direction of project managers and professional engineers. Assist in the development and preparation of figures, design drawings, specifications, calculations, cost estimates, quantity take-offs, technical reports, etc. Undertake research activities to identify and develop potential solutions to design challenges associated with airfield facility design/construction. Support in the project management and contract administration duties for infrastructure projects including but not limited to the preparation of budget/schedule updates, progress payment certificates, shop drawing review, site instructions, change orders commissioning inspections, etc. Inspect project sites and evaluate contractor work to determine compliance with Contract Documents. Plan and conduct site visits and field surveys. Assist your manager in the development and administration of the company Health and Safety Plan and provide basic day to day IT support and/or troubleshooting. Supervise, mentor and provide technical guidance to junior staff.

What do we need from you? Our best fit for this role would be a self-starter who has experience in airfield electrical engineering and is known for seeing ahead of the curve, getting in front of problems before they arise.

Required skills and experience we are seeking: Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Drafting, or related field. 5+ years of experience in civil design and construction Advanced proficiency in civil design and drafting (AutoCAD and Civil 3D essential) Strong understanding of drafting standards, layering systems, and drawing controls. Experience with aviation, municipal, or transportation projects is an asset. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement. Comfortable mentoring and supporting others.
