WHAT’S THE TEAM LIKE The Safety, Security, Compliance, and Emergency Response team ensures the safe and secure operation of Calgary International and Springbank Airports. This team plays a critical role in regulatory compliance, emergency preparedness, and operational assurance, directly impacting the airports’ efficiency and safety. Their work supports the strategic goals of the organization and ensures a safe environment for all stakeholders. WHAT ARE SOME OF THE RESPONSIBILITIES Lead the development and continuous improvement of the Airport Emergency Preparedness Program to strengthen response capability and organizational resilience. Develop, maintain, and test comprehensive emergency response plans, procedures, and documentation to ensure regulatory compliance and operational readiness. Direct incident management structures and lead emergency operations, including activation of the Emergency Operations Centre and coordination of response activities. Design and deliver emergency training programs and exercises to validate response procedures and improve readiness across teams and stakeholders. Manage emergency communication systems and notification platforms to ensure timely, accurate, and coordinated communication during incidents. Build and maintain relationships with government, regulatory agencies, and emergency services to enable coordinated emergency preparedness and response. Ensure compliance with applicable aviation regulations, standards, and legislation through audits, inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives. Oversee program resources, including budgets, contracts, and emergency equipment, to maintain operational readiness and capability. WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BRING You’ll need to be eligible to obtain and maintain a RAIC, don’t worry – we’ll help you through this! For more details, check out: RAIC Program and Application Information Bachelor’s degree in emergency management, public safety, aviation management, or a related field is required. Relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree. 6-8 years of progressive experience in emergency planning, emergency management, incident command, business continuity, or a closely related field preferably in an airport, airline, transportation, public safety, or other complex operational environment is required. Deep knowledge of airport operations and applicable aviation regulations (CARs, CASRs, ICAO), with the ability to apply standards to planning, response, and continuous improvement initiatives. Advanced capability in emergency management, business continuity, and incident command, with the ability to lead emergency response and direct operations in high-pressure environments. Excellent communication, facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to coordinate multi-agency stakeholders and deliver clear, timely information to support aligned and effective emergency response execution. Strong decision-making and judgement with the ability to direct emergency operations, prioritize actions, and allocate resources in dynamic and high-pressure environments. As this position is considered safety-sensitive, candidates must successfully complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing as part of the hiring process. This role includes driving as part of its duties; therefore, candidates will be required to provide a valid Class 5 driver’s license and a current driver’s abstract as part of the hiring process.
