About the role

Position Summary

The Airport Security Branch Manager is responsible for overseeing all contract security operations within a Canadian airport environment. This position ensures the delivery of professional, compliant, customer-focused, and efficient security services while maintaining full compliance with Canadian aviation security regulations, airport authority standards, and client contractual obligations.

The Branch Manager provides operational leadership for personnel working across terminals, restricted areas, cargo facilities, and access points. Acting as the primary liaison, you will build strong relationships with airport authorities, airlines, tenants, regulatory agencies, and law enforcement partners while ensuring operational excellence and service consistency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee all daily airport security operations across multiple service areas
  • Ensure compliance with Canadian Aviation Security Regulations (CASR), Transport Canada, airport authority policies, and OH&S standards
  • Manage access control, restricted area monitoring, mobile patrols, emergency response, and incident investigations
  • Provide leadership and direction to supervisors, dispatch, and frontline security personnel
  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, workforce planning, scheduling, and performance management
  • Act as primary contact for clients, airport stakeholders, and regulatory bodies
  • Conduct site inspections, audits, and quality assurance reviews to maintain service excellence
  • Lead emergency response efforts, including evacuations, security incidents, and operational disruptions
  • Manage branch financials including budgeting, labor costs, overtime, and profitability
  • Prepare operational reports and track KPI performance metrics
  • Support contract growth, retention strategies, and identify new service opportunities
  • Maintain accurate compliance documentation, training records, and incident reports

Qualifications

  • 5–7 years of progressive security management experience
  • Minimum 3 years in aviation security or airport operations preferred
  • Strong understanding of Canadian aviation security regulations and standards
  • Experience leading large, multi-site teams (union experience considered an asset)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC)
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license
  • Post-secondary education in Security, Business, Criminal Justice, or related field preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, scheduling software, and incident reporting systems
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and decision-making abilities
