Aircraft Component Shop Technician - YOW

About the role

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Shop Supervisor, the Shop Technician is responsible for the repair and maintenance of aircraft parts and components.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Carry out repair and maintenance on aircraft parts and components such as aircraft batteries, wheels, leading edges, engines, propellers, auxiliary power units and commissary equipment.
  • Perform maintenance under the supervision of the Shop Lead ACA to the level required to obtain a Shop Certification Authority (SCA)
  • Complete and certify repair orders
  • Ensure that all documentation used for the repair of parts/components are to the latest amendment (aircraft batteries, tires and wheels)
  • Ensure safety rules, regulations and precautions are being observed by all employees
  • Ensure the shop is tidy at the end of the shift
  • Maintain shop equipment/tools in good working condition
  • Assist in “on the job” training for new employees and apprentices
  • Maintain yourself up to date with technical information required by the shop
  • Actively participate in Porter’s Safety Management System (SMS) including, reporting hazards and incidents encountered in daily operations; understand, comply and promote the Company Safety Policy
  • Attend training as mandated by the company
  • Assist in AOG line maintenance
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Completion of secondary school is required
  • A college diploma in aircraft maintenance from a Transport Canada approved educational facility
  • Valid Ontario full “G” driver’s license (or out of province equivalent) and a clean driver's abstract
  • Mechanical experience an asset
  • Able to lift at least 23kg
  • Has completed approved training on the applicable parts/components
  • Must also be knowledgeable of the provision set in the Canadian Aviation Regulations for the proper performance of his/her duties
  • Ability to work on a permanent basis in Canada
  • Ability to make decisions and meet deadlines while handling multiple responsibilities
  • Dependability (must have a clear attendance record and reliable on time reporting for work)
  • Energetic and a self-starter
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Must be able to obtain an unrestricted airport security pass
  • Able to work cohesively as part of a team
