As Section Chief Engineering – Electrical and Avionics at L3 MAS you will:
The Section Chief Engineering Electrical and Avionics acts as supervisor/technical mentor of a team responsible for the design, development and testing of electrical systems that are/will be installed on military-type aerial platforms.
The Section Chief is responsible to technically manage all activities related to Aeronautical electrical engineering activities performed at L3 MAS including but not limited to:
EWIS, EMI/EMC, power distribution, loads analysis, failure and fault analysis
RF Electronics and System
Extensive technical experience in electrical aircraft systems (including wiring) and/or avionics experience is desired.
To achieve this, you will be called upon to:
Under the guidance of the Manager, Electrical Systems, you will be a key player in the establishment and technical implementation of projects as well as quality, continuous improvement and training objectives of your sector:
Provide technical leadership of the functions of the Electrical and Avionics Group;
Ensure technological awareness for its discipline;
Be able to act as the company's technical representative;
Actively participate in internal/external meetings to demonstrate the group's technical expertise;
Supervise a group of approximately ten specialized avionics and aircraft electrical engineers and technologists;
Administrative management, i.e. holidays, vacations, schedules/timesheets;
One-on-one and performance evaluation;
Assigning staff to the various projects;
Developing and monitoring training requirements, succession and coaching plans;
Planning employee career development opportunities;
Coordinating and assigning your department's resources to the various projects while taking into account the implementation phases, the client's requirements and the skills of your team members, all in order to meet the quality requirements, timelines and budgets established by the Project Engineering team.
Selected candidate must be comfortable in an environment controlled by policies, standards and procedures.
Will be called upon to work in collaboration with representatives of the various departments of L3 MAS, as well as representatives of our military and commercial clients.
B.A. in aerospace/avionics/electrical engineering, or equivalent;
Minimum ten (10) years of relevant aircraft electrical engineering or avionics experience;
A minimum of three (3) years of experience in staff supervision and/or as a team leader and/or in coaching;
Excellent skills for solving technical problems, planning and prioritizing work;
Knowledge of minimum operational and performance standards and standards such as SAE, RTCA, EUROCONTROL and others;
Knowledge of reference standards in installation, interconnectivity and communication buses and databases such as ARINC/AEEC standards;
Knowledge of electrical and hardware certification requirements such as RTCA/DO-254 as well as Transport Canada and EASA/FAA certification requirements (TSO, Advisory Circular);
Knowledge of recommended aerospace practices such as SAE ARP4754 and IS0-15288 as well as AS9100D quality standards;
Bilingualism (French and English).
Experience with computer-assisted drawing systems (knowledge of ePlan P8, AutoCAD and CATIA V5);
Knowledge of ARINC 429, MIL-STD-1553, Ethernet, serial protocol and others;
Knowledge of automated testing station programming and use (knowledge of DIT-MCO and THS equipment);
Knowledge of EWIS, electrical bonding, electrical wires, connectors;
Knowledge of the concepts of maintenance, system reliability and probabilistic analysis is an asset;
Knowledge of the electrical systems of the F/A-18 Hornet, CT-114 Tutor, CC-150 Polaris (Airbus 310), CP-140 (Lockheed P3);
Master of Microsoft suite software (Word, Excel, Power Point, Access).
Operational requirements :
Must be eligible for registration to the Controlled Goods Program;
Must be eligible to obtaining and maintaining the government of Canada’s “Reliability” status and Level 2 (Secret) security clearance;
Location not accessible via public transportation, car required.
