The Opportunity:

Under Sunwing Vacations, we are looking for a Customs Specialist to join us in making vacation dreams come true. As the Customs Specialist, you ensure that Sunwing Airlines is Customs compliant with the CBSA and follows the Canada Customs Act when Importing/Exporting Goods. Your responsibility is to review all associated documents for Importing/Exporting Goods are filled out and filed properly with the CBSA while overseeing and communicating on regular basis with our contracted Customs Brokers ensuring all filed paperwork is correct and compliant.

What You'll Do:

  • Work with the CRA and Sunwing Airlines Inc. Legal Department when importing/exporting aircraft and be responsible to maintain a filing system for this process
  • Review all financial invoices that have any relation to customs to ensure the correct charges have been invoiced to Sunwing Airlines Inc. and process as required
  • External/Internal Audit Focal point for when these assessments occur either by the CBSA or any other agency that relates to customs
  • Maintain and update the current HS Coding system for all goods in the Sunwing Airlines CMTS database
  • All CBSA original copies are to be copied, attached to orders and then filed. This includes export documents when returning parts anywhere outside of Canada, other than the United States
  • Monitor International Vendors and setup a tracking sheet for Non-Conforming Information on Import Document errors
  • Maintain the NAFTA Certificates on file and renew as required
  • Update and maintain the CAED System within the Materials Department
  • File Advanced Rulings with the CBSA as required and maintain a record of the ruling for future imports
  • Ensure that all buyers are using the minimum 3 quote system in the most efficient and effective way to guarantee Sunwing Airlines Purchasing is providing adequate cost avoidance for the materials required.
  • Provide and review a monthly cost avoidance report to the Materials Manager for all items purchased during the past month.
  • 24hr/365 On-call Support

What You'll Need:

  • Minimum 3 years Travel or Airline industry sales or customer service experience
  • Leadership/ training experience
  • Must have a vast knowledge of the Canada Customs Act, AMPS program, B2's, B3's, B13A's, K84's, etc.
  • Customs Certified Specialist (CCS) Canada and United States is an asset
  • College diploma associated with Aviation and/or Import/Export related programs is an asset
  • Have a excellent understanding of International Customs compliance and regulations
  • Proven organizational, multitasking and time management skills
  • Excellent computer, written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Highly motivated self-starter with problem solving skills
  • Valid Drivers license/drivers abstract required
  • Must have a valid passport
  • Ability to work flexible schedule under a 24/7/365 operation
  • Skilled with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Must possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Demonstrates initiative and creativity with problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Detailed oriented, organized and capable of multi-tasking
