Position Summary

Magellan Aerospace, Kitchener has a great opportunity for a Master Scheduler. The Master Scheduler is the link between the customers' requirements and the schedule for production to produce product and services in a level-loaded manner. This position is responsible for the creation and maintenance of the Master Production Schedule (MPS) that is a doable plan to support the customer agreed to line of balance (CATLOB) for delivery and has direct oversight for Production Control Department and its' personnel. The Master Scheduler has direct responsibility for inventory control. The Master Scheduler performs these functions in compliance with internal Magellan Operating System (MOS) Policies and Procedures.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Creation and maintenance of a doable MPS (Policy 5.09) which supports: (1) planned load can be satisfied by available capacity, (2) completion dates satisfy CATLOB commitments, (3) required material will be available to meeting plan, and (4) support functions can execute the required tasks to meet the plan. The plan must be accurate, level loaded, and executable.
  • Assist in daily, weekly, and monthly reporting of production related data as required by internal and corporate management. Ex. Business Review metrics for: On Time Performance, Delivery, Inventory; SORP; MOS; Daily Sales Planner, Arrears, etc.
  • Lead and assemble all data for monthly Rate Review meeting (Policy 5.04).
  • Lead all aspects of on time completion goals by aligning planned work order completion dates with customer agreed to sales order requirements - Schedule Adherence.
  • Responsible for inventory control and analysis at all levels, including monthly reporting for Shop Absorption, Sales forecasting, and Material Intake forecasting in collaboration with Dept. Manager's.
  • Actively participate in coordinating annual physical inventory in partnership with Materials Manager and the Division Finance Manager.
  • CATLOB Policy adherence and reporting (Policy 5.07).
  • Evaluate and develop level loaded, doable schedules for prospective work quotations and participate in the quotation review process.
  • Ensure all firm and eligible prospective work is documented and maintained in a Rough Cut Capacity Planning (RCCP) tool by Work Centre.
  • Perform capacity simulations to identify potential problems or shortfalls and recommend alternatives or solutions. Ensure that capacity planning takes into account any maintenance and training requirements applicable.
  • Participate in customer schedule change to ensure that changes are doable and managed so as to avoid any major disruption to the MPS.
  • Using the results established in Part Review meetings held by Contracts/Program Management, ensure that planning parameters in the MPS are routinely reviewed and kept up to date.
  • Direct oversight of Production Control Department (Ex. Planner(s), Administration, Schedulers, etc.) in all facets of duties & responsibilities to support regular production flow.
  • Complete monthly reports for Absorption by Work Center, Material Intake (Inventory), and Sales Forecasting to support Finance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years relevant experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Production planning qualifications (i.e. APIC, MRP systems, etc.)
  • APICS CPIM certification is mandatory
  • Previous experience in MRP systems and production planning activities
  • Extremely proficient in the use of software including, MS Excel and other spreadsheet/database applications
