We develop the most advanced optical systems for global defense and military markets, Homeland Security, Search and Rescue and Airborne law enforcement agencies worldwide. These systems provide stabilized, high-magnification Electro-optic and Infrared (EO/IR) laser, surveillance and targeting systems for airborne, marine and ground based platforms.

Quality Engineering at a Glance
Our products take a beating. They really do….
Whether sitting under the nose of a Blackhawk helicopter in the heat of a desert airstrip, or subjected to persistent saltwater spray atop the mast of a naval patrol ship, operating in sub-zero high-attitude temperatures while on a covert airborne surveillance mission or the relentless heat and dust from a rapidly moving national guard desert convoy.
The two common element in all of these scenarios. First - they’re all mission-critical, therefore our systems have to work flawlessly. Second - that flawless operation is directly attributed to our Quality Engineering Team. Our focus is on delivering confidence that quality requirements will be fulfilled at all stages of production, with higher reliability and greater speed.
The team consists of three primary Quality teams:
Supplier Quality and Quality Engineers focus on the earliest production stages of our optical systems by working with hundreds of suppliers to ensure design for quality is embedded in their processes to ensure repeatability, predictability and scalability.
Our Quality Analysts pour through tremendous quality-based data in order to understand, interpret and socialize that data back to our Quality and various engineering teams at WESCAM for potential opportunities for improvement
Finally, our Quality Specialist anchor the production stages by ensuring that our build/assembly process is perfected from a component perspective (15000 individual components make up one system) and work towards identifying and eliminating potential failures.

Subject Matter Expertise We Look For
Each of the three levels of Quality Engineering require varying depths of experience and skills, as well as some common elements we seek in terms of subject matter expertise.
Quality Assurance experience within Assembly, Manufacturing or Supplier environments
AS9100 standards and why they exist
The relationship between Quality standard and processes
FAI – First Article Inspections
How NCR (Non-Conformance Reporting) and MRB (Material Review Boards) are incorporated into the Quality process
Principles of 8D, Fishbone, Five-Why and PFMEA
Advanced Excel skills / Trend Analysis
We don’t just look for the above – you’ll need to have a few other things to keep you balanced. For example, you’ll need all of your five senses to be on-point with the rest of us - Humour, Humility, Belonging, Urgency and Self.
Also, the ability to play a musical instrument is also high on the list – we have 7 in-company bands and we’re always looking for a guitar lead or a drummer.
Your area of expertise may include something we need immediately, or later on down the road – but at some point in time, we’d like a chance to get to know you a little better.
Education / Academic Backgrounds We Look For
While Engineering degrees are always welcomed, we additionally look for academic backgrounds that include technical degrees/diplomas, Quality Assurance designations (ie: ASQ), Lean/Six Sigma training and more.
