Air Borealis is currently recruiting for a Director of Flight Operations in Goose Bay, NL for a Full Time Permanent position.

In the role of Director of Flight Operations you will be responsible for:

  • Supervision, organization, manning and efficiency of the following divisions within Flight Operations:
    • All aircraft flight operations, which includes Flight Following and Aircraft Navigation and Performance
    • Crew Scheduling
    • Flight crew training programs
    • Safety Management System
  • The contents of the Air Operator’s Company Operations Manual.
  • The supervision of the production and amendment of the Company Operations Manual
  • Liaison with the regulatory authority on all matters concerning the Flight Operations, including any variations in the Air Operator Certificate.
  • Liaison with any external agencies, which may affect Air Operator Operations.
  • Ensuring that the Air Operator’s operations are conducted in accordance with current regulations, standards and air operator policy.
  • Ensuring that crew scheduling complies with flight and duty time regulations, and that all crew members are kept informed of any changes to the regulations and standards.
  • The receipt and actioning of any aeronautical information affecting the safety of flight.
  • The dissemination of aircraft safety information, both internal and external, in conjunction with the safety management system.
  • Qualifications of flight crew.
  • Maintenance of a current operations library.
  • Develop and apply new Flight Operations Policy and Procedures in keeping with changing conditions, equipment, experience and competency of personnel.
  • In their absence, all responsibilities for operational duties shall be delegated to another individual qualified in accordance with Canadian Aviation Regulations.
  • Mentor other managers to develop further and identify potential managers for succession planning.
  • Develop team-work and motivate members through setting clear expectations and recognize and reward outstanding performance.
  • Assist with the preparation and development of operations budget.
  • Daily operations meetings, liaise with the operations division to ensure input on daily flight operations.
  • Manage and monitor overall operational policies as it relates to the operational manual and SOP’s.
  • Manage and monitor divisional targets in relation to OTP and budgets and external revenues.
  • Act effectively on resolving issues arising from day-to-day operations.
  • Ensure all non-conformances dealing with operations are investigated with appropriate reports prepared and appropriate actions taken.
  • Confer with employees to give performance feedback and assist with providing support and solve employee issues, through quarterly employee meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of CARS/Transport Canada Regulations
  • 5 yeas of management experience is required
  • 3 years operational experience (experience in a similar aviation related role is considered a strong asset)
  • Previous flying experience is considered an asset
  • Experience with 704 operation is preferred
  • Experience using Microsoft Office is an asset
