What You'll Get to Do
The Crew Scheduling Manager will oversee and direct the daily operations of the Crew Scheduling team including providing leadership and supervisory support. The Crew Scheduling Manager is also responsible for the management and optimization of VMO tasks housed within the Flight Operations Department.

Operations:

  • Lead, guide, and mentor the members within the Crew Scheduling team
  • Lead the facilitation of all Pilot and Flight Attendant specific general training including, technical, CRM, Global, SIM and ACP training
  • Oversee the distribution and completion of the monthly flight crew bid package including completion of the monthly block schedule
  • Responsible for facilitating and maintaining all department training standards for direct reporting team members
  • Responsible for managing and approving direct reports schedules, payroll, overtime, and time off requests within the payroll system
  • Responsible for ensuring accuracy of all department specific manual amendments
  • Monitor and manage any attendance and/or performance issue within the Crew Scheduling team
  • Responsible for playing a key role in automating and streamlining processes, creating, and implementing new features within VMO
  • Responsible for maintaining all corporate contracts housed within the Crew Scheduling team
  • Conduct regular payroll audits and notify the Crew Scheduling Manager of any issues
  • Notify the Chief Pilot/Flight Attendant Manager for attendance issues with Crew members
  • Oversee the approval of department purchase orders, incoming invoices, and credit card statement
  • Responsible for approving all Crew Scheduling team members schedules, payroll, overtime, and time off requests within Dayforce
  • Manage all SIM bookings where required
  • Support the logistics and crew planning of all Charter flights
  • Train, support, and manage communication with new and existing flight crew employees on bid packages and payroll summaries as well as all VMO functions
  • Interpret and administer the CUPE/ALPA collective agreements
  • Ensure all schedules maintain regulatory compliance with the CAR's
  • Other duties as required

Financial:

  • Assist with annual department budget
  • Assist with monitoring and analyzing monthly expenditures to ensure within budget and stay on target
  • Adhere to all financial internal controls
  • Ensure procurement approvals are completed in a timely manner
  • Engage in ongoing cost reduction analysis within your department

Safety & Leadership:

  • Lead, guide, and mentor Crew Scheduling employees
  • Participate in the recruitment and selection of team members
  • Promote occupational health and safety within the department, and participate in the development and monitoring of safety training
  • Proactively communicate hazards and SMS initiatives with the department
  • Embark on employment equity initiatives
  • Engaging with all employees to promote employment equity and encouraging employees to undertake the self-declaration survey updating as necessary
  • All levels of the organization share responsibility for human rights within the organization
  • Overseeing and promoting continuous improvement on human rights and employment equity initiatives

MANAGERS, SUPERVISORS AND LEADS - have been delegated the authority and are responsible to the Department Head to actively identify hazards and deficiencies and report through the SMS (Safety Management System) Program reporting system. Communicate with all personnel within their respective department and other departments as required to maintain effective day to day activities. Ensure regulatory and company standards are maintained. Assist in the development and maintenance of company processes and procedures. (Quality Assurance activities)

Carry out their duties safely within regulatory and company standards, policies, processes, and procedures as trained. Use safety equipment (tools, Proper Protective Equipment etc.) as provided. Actively identify and report hazards and deficiencies (when in doubt report). Assist in development of company processes and procedures as required.

Skills & Experience We Value

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Post-secondary education in related field considered an asset
  • 2-3 years' experience in a management function required
  • Previous aviation experience required
  • Computer skills (MS Office) with emphasis on Excel
  • Ability to effectively communicate orally and written
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy
  • Familiarity with VMO, Great Plains, and Amelia considered an asset
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities within tight deadlines
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and in a team environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including plain language with an ability to express ideas, concepts, and recommendations to diverse audiences in a variety of channels
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain and enhanced security clearance
  • Inuktitut language considered an asset
  • Preference will be given to Inuit Land Claims Beneficiaries
