This individual exhibits a high standard of excellence, enjoys challenges, and is results-driven. To be successful in this role, you must be highly motivated and demonstrate the ability to work in an agile environment.

As a Senior Data Quality Analyst, you will have a unique opportunity to have outsized impact felt across the organization. You will be responsible for safeguarding and increasing the quality of WestJet’s data estate. You will do this by defining, implementing, and tracking data quality metrics across all of WestJet’s data assets and systems. You will work closely with all business units to understand their data quality and usage; you will work closely with other data and technology teams to implement and monitor data quality; and you will work closely with the rest of the Data Governance team to ensure alignment to the overall data governance strategy and framework.

This role requires a highly motivated self-starter with a strong work ethic and high standard of excellence. If you tend to challenge the status quo and strive for the highest quality, this is the role for you.

Key deliverables include:

  • Define, track, and enforce Data Quality metrics and KPIs across WestJet’s data systems, including data in Snowflake, Azure SQL, SQL Server, ADLS, and Oracle.
  • Work with data teams to define and implement monitoring, alerting, and reporting, as it relates to data quality, across WestJet’s data systems.
  • Work with data and technology teams to analyze current data quality and address quality issues across the enterprise.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their data requirements and ensure data quality meets those needs.
  • Define and document policies and processes to ensure data quality practices are followed across business units.
  • Collaborate, educate, and influence Data Stewards and Custodians to ensure data quality literacy across the enterprise.
  • Educate business and technology users on data quality best practices.
  • Participate in Scrum ceremonies as part of the overall Data Governance team.
  • Ensure data quality metrics align with relevant data governance and cyber security policies and frameworks.
  • Mentor and guide junior team members.
  • Support other Data Governance team members as needed, and seek support from other Data Governance team members as needed.

Experience and qualification:

Our ideal candidate covers 80% of the following, but we value your skills and potential more than your credentials. We are looking for people who are curious, adaptable, and willing to take on new challenges. If you are passionate about this role and our mission, but don’t meet all the requirements, we still want to hear from you. This role offers a salary of $90,000 - $110,000, dependent and contingent on qualifications and experience.

  • 5+ years of experience in some combination of data quality, data analysis, data architecture, database analysis, data engineering and/or risk & compliance.
  • Experience defining and tracking data quality metrics.
  • Experience implementing data quality monitoring and alerting, either natively or using third-party tooling.
  • Familiarity with database structures both on-prem and in the cloud (ADLS, Azure SQL, SQL Server, Oracle).

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to adjust communication style based on the audience (executive, management, business, technical, etc.).
  • Experience with industry data management toolsets, ETL processes, data quality management, master data management, and meta-data management
