The Workforce Manager is responsible for the coaching, development, and day-to-day leadership of the Tech Ops Workforce Team ensuring all administrative requirements including scheduling and payroll are current and up to date for Tech Ops.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the scheduled planning responsibilities of 650+ AMEs, supervisory roles and operational managers. vacation bidding across all bases as per applicable CBA, and Canada Labor code;

  • Optimize scheduling efficiency to balance operational coverage and costs;

  • Acting as a point of contact for various departmental interdependencies such as the uniform program, Line Maintenance recalls, Operational Leader support, Fatigue Committee support, Just Culture Committee support, CRE and IT;

  • Providing leadership and guidance to the Workforce team including Workforce Coordinators and a Workforce Advisor;

  • Ensures tasks are evenly distributed amongst team members and supports the development of each team member to build on their knowledge and expertise in workforce scheduling;

  • Collaborates with the union partner as needed;

  • Supports the Technical Operations leadership team on all scheduling-related aspects and acts as a subject matter expert on all things related to scheduling as per the Collective Agreement;

  • Leads ongoing task meetings with Operational Leadership to discuss priorities, progress, and timelines to ensure the day-to-day tasks are being completed in alignment with the service level agreements and priorities set;

  • High degree of diplomacy and good judgment along with the ability to maintain confidentiality;

  • Strong knowledge of the Canadian Labour Code and experience working in a unionized environment;

  • Possesses strong leadership skills and the ability to coach, develop, and manage day-to-day tasks;

  • Assist with event planning and coordination;

  • Ensure a consistent employee onboarding experience;

  • Manage vendor invoices as required in conjunction with accounts payable;

  • Oversee/approve all travel, per diems, and other costs associated with employee work group travel for training and /or work coverage;

  • Oversee/approve all AME allowances, tools, Safety, Licensing, passports, and technical exams;

  • Manage the grievance process;

  • Ensure operational and workforce performance metrics are compiled and distributed;

  • Manage performance review processes to ensure all annual reviews take place;

  • Responsible for signing Authority for Airport Authority;

  • Accountable for monthly reports for each OM for sick, OT, and other - AME availability;

  • Trains AMEs, Leads and OMs on an adhoc basis (Kronos, JDE);

  • Leads Disability Management (STD<D) paperwork and return to work;

  • Aids in project work and any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A relevant degree from a recognized college or technical school;

  • A minimum of 6 to 10 years of experience in a similar administrative or support function;

  • Working proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook);

  • Working proficiency using TRAX/EMRO, JDE, Sabre and Kronos;

  • Knowledge of the aviation industry is required;

  • Experience in Technical Operations is an asset;

  • Previous experience working in a Federally regulated environment;

  • Previous experience in scheduling and payroll;

  • Excellent time management, organizational skills and attention to detail;

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written;

  • Analytical mindset and ability to problem-solve effectively;

  • Some travel required.
