General responsibilities of the position :
As planned in the departmental progression program, perform the simplest to the most complex of the department's operations in order to install, maintain, test and repair a wide variety of electrical equipment and networks. Perform related and general duties. Keep equipment and work station clean and in good working condition.
Work from instructions, service requests and established processes, to perform preventive, predictive or corrective maintenance, as well as all forms of repair work on electrical systems and equipment. Set up and assemble equipment as per operational requirements. Perform diagnosis to identify the source of the problem; disassemble machinery up to the defective parts and maintain equipment integrity. Research repetitive cause of failures or breakdowns and recommend proper corrective methods.
Specific responsibilities of position :
Determine location and arrangement of material. Evaluate scope of tasks and material required in order to perform repairs or replacements, and organize work in collaboration with other trades. Install, replace, repair, adjust and align parts of various equipment and instruments such as distribution station and network, wiring, relays and circuit breakers. Use programmable controllers to access ladder diagrams in order to perform debugging operations on accessories, e.g. garage doors, barriers, rinsing lines, test bench equipments and vacuum system. Use appropriate tools and equipment to verify parameters, adjustment and calibration, in order to ensure proper operation. Test equipment and ensure it performs as per specifications and operational requirements. Disconnect and reconnect electrical equipment and machinery.
Identify, research and prepare the order or shipment of spare parts, ready-to-assemble kits and repairable components required to complete work. Receive and move material, parts and other equipment towards designated areas. Drive various mobile equipment and motor vehicles such as forklifts and scissor lifts. Keep working perimeter safe. Must maintain required governmental accreditations up to date.
