Designer, Engineering and product development - Interior

The Designer, Engineering and product development will design mechanical systems integrating lightweight composite materials and mechanical systems. The candidate will produce design concepts, 3D designs and 2D drawings to meet program technical and schedule requirements. The candidate will also be engaged in supporting internal and customer production.

More specificly, the designer will have to :

  • Design composite components for use within aircraft interiors in respect of composites production capabilities
  • Design mechanisms to meet functional requirements and integrate them with composite parts according to internal design standards
  • Produce 2D drawings (in CATIA V5 and in the customer's PLM system (Enovia)) to facilitate production and assembly according to internal drawing standards and the one of the customer
  • Review customer datasets (ICDs, CCDs)
  • Initiate & support the release of engineering datasets
  • Identify design, weight and cost risks and develop mitigation and improvement opportunities
  • Liaise with customers to develop detailed requirements based on project technical requirements and customer requests, industrial design sketches.
  • Liaise with internal groups to take a design from concept through to detailed design, prototypes, testing, qualification, certification and serial production
  • Support internal production & customer troubleshooting for first part deliveries, entry into service & serial production
  • Prepare & review technical documents & presentations
  • Provide work hours estimates and support development of schedules and recovery plans
  • The candidate shall be available for travelling if necessary

Job requirement:

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related field, or equivalent
  • 5 years experience in aerospace design
  • 5 years experience with CATIA V5
  • Knowledge of aerospace certification requirements & methods
  • Knowledge of composites production capabilities
  • Hands-on experience with aerospace components
  • Knowledge of the Office Suite
  • Knowledge in SAP (asset)
  • High level of English
