SUMMARY:

The Sr. Manager, Quality serves as the deputy of the Director of Quality for the site. He/she is the representative in matters pertaining to the quality department staff consisting of QMS compliance, Quality Engineering and Quality Clinic personnel. The Sr. Manager, Quality ensures customer and regulatory quality requirements are met and the highest levels of product quality and customer satisfaction are achieved. The Sr. Manager, Quality may be required to interface directly with outside customers, third party representatives, regulatory agencies and internal operations to ensure that Collins Aerospace Quality Management System is appropriately implemented and in compliance with regulatory requirements.

This position in on the Afternoon shift: Monday - Friday 3pm to 11pm.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage, facilitate, and coordinate site Quality Inspection, Quality Engineering, Quality Management System staff activities such as; inspection support, internal audits, material review, corrective action board and Quality Clinic
  • Champion and spearhead Zero Defect Plans methodology, ensuring Collins Aerospace customers receive defect-free products
  • Systematically reduce Cost of Poor Quality across the site
  • Ensure essential Quality Management System policies and procedures are consistently implemented
  • Provide the necessary resources to ensure personnel are trained to allow for the effectiveness of the quality system through internal audits, inspection and test
  • Report on the performance of the quality staff activities at periodic reviews
  • Perform and report internal audit surveillance
  • Develop and maintain department quality metrics

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • This role requires a Bachelors Degree and 8 years related experience or an Advanced degree (Masters) in the appropriate discipline and 5 years of relevant experience. In the absence of the degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required
  • Masters’ degree preferred.
  • American Society of Quality (ASQ) certification will be considered a plus
  • Hands-on experience in the Quality function with a proven track-record of customer escapes and internal defects reduction
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a quality management position
  • Knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR’s) and TCCA is a plus
  • Knowledge of Quality Systems (ISO9000, AS9100 etc.) preferred
  • Knowledge of Aerospace Customer Requirements, specifications preferred
  • Ability to work effectively and influence others in a diverse and dynamic work environment
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills with strong competencies in applying Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing tools
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail, proven project management skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to understand, interpret and easily communicate quality policies and practices
  • Success in driving change initiatives in manufacturing and operations environments
