PAL Aerospace is currently seeking a Remote Sensing Manager to join our growing team in St. John’s, NL!

The Remote Sensing Manager will supervise and aid our remote sensing staff, be the point of contact for our clients, and perform geospatial/remote sensing analyses. The incumbent will work with the PAL Aerospace team to design initiatives that expand current products/capabilities, as well as implementing new services to existing and future clients.

Job Duties:

• Manage work requests.
• Establish and lead the remote sensing activities for PAL’s growing remote sensing division
• Lead and faciliatate remote sensing activities related to other facets of PAL Aerospace’s operations.
• Supervise, monitor, and evaluate the activities of the local remote sensing staff.
• Manage projects and work with internal and external stakeholders as the liaison for remote sensing activities including;
• Support bid development
• Perform geospatial and remote sensing analyses as required.
• Process and standards development and implementation.
• Provide technical guidance and support to remote sensing staff.
• Assist in creation of algorithm development, map templates, generate maps, report writing and review, and ensure that the maps, data, and reports are stored in databases correctly aligned with PAL’s quality management system (QMS).
• Perform data quality control including the reviewing data for completeness and accuracy, identifying, correcting errors or omissions in the data and ensuring that that data is stored correctly based on PAL’s QMS.
• Provide training for new technology, new software, and new procedures.
• Prepare status and milestone reports as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Experience

• MS in physical geography, GIS or other related fields or related field. Bachelors’ degree or experience in business related field considered an asset.
• Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in lead role within the GIS/remote sensing sector.
• Demonstrable expertise in the use of geospatial data including satellite imagery to perform analysis.
• Experience in proposal development process and proposal writing. Experience in detailed report writing as well as reviewing of technical reports.
• Excellent communication skills with fluency in written and spoken English.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, ArcGIS, Remote Sensing Software is considered a strong asset.
• Experience liasioning with internal and external stakeholders and organizations.
• Ability to multi-task and work effectively under pressure.
• Experience as a team leader with supervisory experience is considered an asset.
