At PAL Aerospace, we provide a wide range of aviation and related services to domestic and international markets, most recently adding MRO capabilities in Winnipeg, MB. At the forefront of a great team is great leadership, and we’re looking to add a Heavy Maintenance Manager to lead our Winnipeg-based team on a fixed term basis.

What are we looking to add to our team with a Heavy Maintenance Manager?

This PAL is responsible for managing and overseeing a range of heavy maintenance projects at our Winnipeg operation. With a strong focus on planning and directing, the Heavy Maintenance Manager ensures that projects are delivered safely, on time and with the highest level of quality. A true people-leader, s/he will play a key role in providing oversight, guidance and mentorship to a diverse team of maintenance professionals.

Specific duties and responsibilities include:

  • Manage and oversee heavy maintenance projects
  • Plan and analyze the scope and progress of projects, liaison with customers, and assist with bids for future projects
  • Ensure heavy maintenance delivery objectives are met
  • Administer company and division policies
  • Supervise heavy maintenance team
  • Coordinate all technical activities and liaison with other departments to ensure projects are completed efficiently
  • Manage assigned issues in PAL Safety Management System
  • Monitor, maintain, and encourage a safe work environment for staff
  • Monitor and manage training requirements of all staff
  • Conduct weekly tool box talks to communicate with heavy maintenance team
  • Provide regular project updates as required
  • Monitor departmental workloads and labour productivity
  • Other duties as assigned


  • A.M.E License Cat. “M1/M2”
  • Endorsement on the Dash 8, ATR or Dornier 328 considered an asset
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as A.M.E.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent decision making and organizational skills
  • Proven experience in meeting tight deadlines
  • Trouble shooting experience and the ability to problem solve
  • Highly effective written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Experience in a supervisory role is considered an asset
  • Experience in overseeing heavy checks is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of Transport Canada Regulations
  • Knowledge of airframe and power plant systems
  • In depth knowledge of Win-Air and its reporting capabilities and production module
