Our Integration Engineering business located in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, is looking to expand our roster of industry-recognized avionics and electrical system Certification Specialists. The growth plan for this position includes development to become an Authorized Person in our Design Approval Organization, with signing authority granted by the Minister of Transport. Following is an overview of the opportunities and responsibilities associated with this position.

The primary responsibility of the Certification Specialist (Avionics & Electrical) is to ensure that the design and development of avionics and electrical system modification comply with the applicable airworthiness regulations. This requires the ability to determine requirements and negotiate agreements on the basis of certification with Airworthiness Authorities and suppliers, and the technical knowledge to ensure the requirements have been met.

This position offers exciting opportunities to develop innovative solutions for both operators and OEMs. The position provides world-wide travel and hands-on/in-cockpit experience through aircraft design surveys and certification testing.


  • Create and review certification data packages in accordance with the requirements of the Design Approval Organization manuals.
  • Prepare and review technical reports that document compliance with airworthiness standards.
  • Maintain familiarity with airworthiness standards and associated guidance material.
  • Liaise with technical specialists and Airworthiness Authorities to develop the necessary technical data for each project.
  • Create Certification Test Plans/Reports and Witness Tests.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.


  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Engineering from four-year college or university; and three plus years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3 plus years’ experience and knowledge in aircraft electrical and avionics systems


  • Transport Canada DAO Authorized Person / Design Approval Representative (DAR), preferred.
  • Experience working in an autonomous, self-directed work environment
  • Experience in aircraft certification
