Securiguard is currently accepting applications to join our team of Airside Safety Escorts at Vancouver International Airport with roles starting in March 2024.

The Airside Safety Escort Program is responsible for ensuring safety and security of persons both airside and inside the Terminal and compliance with Aviation Security protocols. Due to the training and clearance requirements for this role we will be commencing interviews over the next two months.

Explore a future with us at Securiguard, Vancouver Airport's longest serving security contractor. We have been a trusted security provider since 1997, growing with the Vancouver Airport over the last two decades and expanding our 24-hour services to better suit the needs of this unique site.

Duties includes:

  • Escorting individuals to the Restricted Area of the airport
  • Checking documents of entitlement
  • Notify the Airside Safety Officer & Terminal Duty Officer when entering the airfield and when leaving the airfield
  • Notify the Airside Safety Officer of any safety and/or security incidents (regardless of severity) that occur on the airfield
  • Ensuring that visual contact is maintained while escorting individuals
  • Ensuring that each vehicle accessing the Restricted Area has valid Vehicle Permit and/or Temporary Vehicle Permit

Requirements

  • Must be comfortable with working outside.
  • Available to work days and evenings (graveyards)
  • Available to work Weekends and Holidays
  • 8-12 Hours per Shift, depending on requirements of client
  • Valid Class 5 British Columbia Driver's License
  • Clean Drivers Abstract
  • Valid Security License within the Province of British Columbia

Clearance Requirements (AVOP & RAIC) & Training

To ensure the highest level of security, all personnel entering restricted areas of the Airport must have the appropriate security clearances and adhere to Transport Canada regulations to prevent or reduce unlawful interference with civil aviation. For many of Securiguard's positions based at our Vancouver Airport Branch, candidates must have the ability to obtain Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC). This clearance involves a rigorous background check, based on 5 years of history in Canada.

This role also requires an Airside Vehicle Operator's Permit (AVOP). The airside of an airport is a specialized working environment governed by rules designed to prevent accidents, avoid property damage and minimize the risk of injury to personnel. An Airside Vehicle Operator's Permit (AVOP) certifies that a person is trained to operate vehicles safely airside in gate, runway and aircraft taxi areas. AVOP applicants must prove both a need and right to operate a vehicle airside. Applicants must also pass a written and practical exam.

Successful candidates will also be trained in Aviation Security and upon passing the examination will receive an AVSEC certification.
