As Aircraft Basic Servicing (AGYS) / Armt Systems Configuration Instructor at L3 MAS you will:
Perform modifications, inspections and repairs on the weapons systems as well as the complex verification and maintenance tasks on the CF-18 aircraft and potentially on components of the CF-18 aircraft weapon system at the workshop of component repair.
To achieve this, you will be called upon to:
Perform mechanical work and visual, functional or operational checks of a complex nature on CF-18s (weapon systems) in accordance with the Canadian Forces Technical Instruction (CFTO), technical drawings, Assembly booklets, standards of materials and processes and working instructions in force;
Participate in the preparation of the planes and the configuration of the weapons systems for the flight or acceptance by the customer;
Verify, adjust, repair or replace devices and equipment of a complex nature such as:
Various components of the aircraft's weapons systems;
Suspension and release mechanism of
Distributor of bombs and rockets;
Central airplane fuselage mat;
Airplane wing mat.
If necessary, check and maintain fuel systems, flight systems, such as hydraulic, pneumatic, heating and ventilation circuits, flight controls, landing gear, reactors, fire detection, etc. by plugging in and using the power test benches and devices and performing all of the required actions as part of a task, as instructed;
Exercise extreme caution and respect the health and safety bulletins of the company, etc. during the handling, refueling and displacement of aircraft and during the start-up of reactors and fixed points, etc.;
Attend training and information sessions, depending on the needs;
Inform the team leader or supervisor of technical problems, scheduling problems, additional needs and the well-being of technicians;
Follow the rules of the control of the tooling;
Consult the reference documentation such as CFTO, work processes and other related documents;
Carefully fill out the inspection sheets, forms, documentation, records and other documents of the aircraft as required;
Perform the tasks assigned to him by the team leader or the supervisor.
* Note that the Air weapons Technician-Instructor (AWS/armament) will have an important trainer role to play with the technicians of the Department of National Defense. Considering its many years of experience on the CF-18, he will have to welcome, train and accompany technicians in their day-to-day tasks and follow up with assigned team leaders or supervisors.
In addition, the technician must comply with the administrative and technical rules of the establishment where he is assigned in respect of:
Health and safety;
Foreign object damage (FOD);
Documentation and records;
Diploma of college studies in avionics or equivalent experience;
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar position;
Endorsement on CF-18 mandatory;
Extensive experience of the CF-18 aircraft required;
Communication skills in both languages English and French, oral and written;
Good communicator and strong training skills;
Ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships.
Operational requirements :
Must be eligible for registration to the Controlled Goods Program;
Must be eligible to obtaining and maintaining the government of Canada’s “Reliability” status and Level 2 (Secret) security clearance.
